What specifically makes Harlow House a perfect micro-wedding or intimate venue?

We are designed from the ground up for celebrations of 50 guests or less. Unlike larger venues that simply partition a ballroom, our space is proportioned to feel cozy, elegant, and personal for small groups. Our all-white palette acts as a beautiful canvas, so your smaller guest count still fills the room with warmth and intimacy.

Can we bring our own food and drinks?

Yes, you may bring your own food and drinks. If serving alcohol, you must use our bartending service, which also includes a fully stocked coffee/tea bar and water station with cups & ice.

Do you offer a designated 'getting ready' space or a Bridal Suite?

Yes! The rental includes access to our private, Bridal Suite. It's a peaceful, dedicated space perfect for final touches and photos before your ceremony. It is available for your entire rental period. The space also offers a separate entrance option for the Bride and or Bridal party.

Can the room be flipped from a ceremony space to a reception/dinner setup

No, the ceremony, reception, and dinner is in the same room. During initial setup you coordinator will ensure a layout optimized for your event

What is your policy on event coordination or a day-of planner?

To ensure a smooth event, we strongly recommend the add-on “professional day-of coordinator”, especially for micro-weddings.

Is there a kitchen or prep area for my caterer?

Yes, we have a dedicated catering prep area with a refrigerator, microwave, buffet tables and serving space. This area is designated for caterer food serving use only and is not a full-service commercial kitchen.

Can we serve alcohol?

Yes, you may serve alcohol using our Bartending Service. Beer and wine/seltzers must be in aluminum cans. You may also serve up to 2  signature mixed drink with liquor. No shots or rock pours. Bartending service is for 2 hr. Minimum and is 100 per hour and includes a water station with cups and ice and a coffee & tea bar .

Can we bring our own vendors?

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own vendors, they must be able to provide a Certificate of Insurance that lists Harlow House as an additional insured. This protects the venue as well as the hosts in the event that a vendor causes damage to the facility. We have preferred vendors that already have us listed as an additional insured.

Can we do a champagne toast or bring in specific Michigan craft beers?

Yes! Champagne and prosecco are permitted for toasts. As for beer, all beer, wine, and seltzers must be in aluminum cans for safety. We encourage you to bring in your favorite local Michigan craft beer in can format!

Why is a Certificate of Insurance (COI) required from all outside vendors?

Requiring a COI protects you, your guests, and the venue. It is standard practice to ensure that all service providers (like caterers, DJs, etc.) are professionally licensed and properly insured, giving you peace of mind on your event day.

We keep a list of preferred vendors who already have this on file!

Are there any noise restrictions or a music curfew?

Our local township ordinance requires music to end by 10:00 PM. All of our rental packages are designed to accommodate a full evening of celebration while respecting these restrictions.

Do we get set up and clean up time?

All set up and clean up will need to be done within rented hours. We will unlock the door at your start time and you must be ready to walk out at your end time. Extra hours can always be added to any rental or package. 

Is there on-site parking for guests, and is it complimentary?

Yes. We are located in the Secretary of State Plaza in Belleville, MI, which provides ample, complimentary on-site parking right outside the venue entrance for you and your guests.

What are the nearest hotels or accommodations for out-of-town guests?

We are centrally located with several great options nearby. The closest hotels are located off I-94 in the Van Buren Township area, approximately a 10-15 minute drive. We are also a convenient location for guests flying into DTW Airport (Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport). Being in between Ann Arbor and Detroit Michigan.

How do payments work?

You will be sent a contract to review and sign, at that time 50% of your balance is due to hold your date. The remainder will automatically come out two weeks prior to your event.
